This current work is using crude materials; hessian & mud casts to look at youth identity in an organic environment. The asolescent is very reminiscent of the tree sapling, and I want to explore how making the form of the figure offers different intepretations when viewed in the natural environment as opposed to the gallery.

Close up of individual female faces used in female identity work. Each face was cast to re create a perfect likeness. It was then deconstructed and fragmented to explore the role of the female within contemporary culture. The faces were cast in clay which was then fired in an open wood fire. CompositionThis latest work explores the subject of female identity within cultures. I have taken cast of faces to create a perfect likeness, then deconstructed & fragmented them through burning. The ash from the fires has then been collected and cast to create new faces out of the old.The work seeks to question the multiple role of the female within our society.
